When choosing residential water purification or residential water filtration systems, you must consider the following:

If you are supplied by public water your water contains chemicals that are used by agencies to kill various microorganisms.  Chlorine is a poison and when it interacts with organic material in water there are a number of carcinogenic chemicals produced that are.  Some cities are switching to chloramines in an attempt to reduce these.  Chloramines are worse than chlorine, in my opinion.  If you doubt me, read the articles in my resource library.  Your water may also contain regulated contaminants and may contain a variety of contaminants that are not regulated and for which no attempt at treatment is made.  Hence....your water is contaminated.  This is not meant as a criticism of public water agencies.  They do their best for you.  My point is that you do not receive and cannot expect healthy water from public systems.

  The most effective way to make sure you are buying the right water filtration or water purification system or for your home is to determine what contaminants are in your water and which water treatment system will remove them. 

This is easy to do but most people buy the wrong equipment because they skip this step.

Urban Defender® Whole House Water Purification System:

My Urban Defender whole house water purification system is an extremely effective and affordable solution for people with public water who wish to remove chlorine or chloramines and the carcinogenic by-products of disinfection as well as herbicides and pesticides.  This system does an awesome job on city water.  The system consists of KDF55® media embedded within 2 cubic feet of activated or catalytic carbon.  A 5 micron pre-filter is installed before the system.  The Urban Defender will eliminate the cancer causing contaminants in public water.  You can request details on the Urban Defender.  You can combine it with other treatment options, such as filtration and Ultra Violet light, for more complete protection.  There is no better whole house system for municipal water.  The Urban Defender is comparable to systems that cost more than four times as much.

Reverse Osmosis:

I sell a 5 stage Reverse Osmosis system that I recommend for removing nitrates, removal of some metals such as aluminum,  radioactive metals, and unregulated drugs in drinking water.  High levels of tds, sulfates, and chlorides can only be removed using reverse osmosis.  While I personally prefer to drink water with natural minerals I recommend reverse osmosis when the contaminants in your water call for it.  I've developed a custom RO system that overcomes my basic objections to the effects of the reverse osmosis process - that is, the lowering of the water's pH and removal of all beneficial minerals. I raise the pH so it is slightly alkaline.  You may request my RO Specifications and pricing by email.  This system produces up to 35 gallons per day of 'purified' drinking water at a cost of 47 cents per day.

Pricing:

5 stage reverse osmosis with filter to raise pH: $451.

Some cities provide drinking water that contains pharmaceuticals and other unregulated contaminants from people living in other cities upstream.  If you have these and intend to remove them from drinking water, this reverse osmosis system is what you want.

Shower Filters:

I urge anyone considering a kitchen system to also use a showerhead filter that will remove chlorine and chlorine by-products.  Half of your chlorine consumption each day is in the shower as chlorine is absorbed by your skin and inhaled as it turns to gas.  I sell a very simple, inexpensive, and highly effective shower filter.  It uses 14 ounces of KDF and Quartz crystals to remove chlorine.  Pricing is $50.  I don't sell shower filters unless I've sold a kitchen system also.

 

Equipment for Specific Problems

Not everyone can utilize my whole house purification system and not everyone wants to 'purify' their water.  For those clients who have a specific problem they wish to solve, I provide a full line of high quality equipment to remove iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide odors, neutralize acid water by raising pH, Ultra Violet light for bacterial contamination, arsenic, mercury, nitrate, fluoride or other specific contaminant removal.  You can learn more about many of these systems on by well water page.  I also have a wide variety of sediment filters and water softeners.  If you're thinking of buying a water softener, email me for a tip on how to buy the right softener for your needs: How to buy the right water softener  

These systems use natural methods to remove or modify specific contaminants.  Call me for product details, specifications, and cost.  In order to help you with these products we must be able to discuss the details of your water quality.  If you have a well, see my well water page.  If you have a water problem that can be solved, I have access to the equipment to do so.  If you have a special water problem, call me to discuss your needs.  I also have extensive technical support backing me up so we can be sure to provide you with the treatment that will meet your needs.

 

Energy and Holistic or Natural Water

For those clients who are interested in a holistic approach and the concept of revitalized or restructured water, I carry the Water Revitalizer (click on link to view it).  I use this product in my home.  The concept behind its design is based on the theories of Viktor Schauberger, an Austrian whose work was published in 1932 and 1933.  His theories maintain that water holds an energy in its natural state.  If you've ever sat and watched the water in a stream, perhaps you'll agree...the water swirls and turns, always shifting in a circular motion.  Schauberger suggests that this natural flow form is eliminated by putting water in pipes, pollution, and treatment with chemicals such as chlorine. 

 

Reading Your Water Report

OK, so I've told you to obtain your water report and perhaps you've done so and you have no idea what it means.  If you are planning to make a purchase from me please call and we'll review your water report and determine what you need (I don't charge for this).  If you plan to purchase equipment from someone else but want my opinion of what to buy, you can pay my consultation fee of $150. NOTE: You are most welcome to email a copy of your water report to me.  Be sure to follow up with a phone call so that we may review it together.  I will gladly go over it and tell you what products of mine I recommend specifically and what they cost.  I do not respond to water reports by email as I need additional information from you in order to make a recommendation.

 

Installation and Service

I work with clients across the country.  I represent a variety of manufacturers and assemble custom systems when necessary.  We'll look at your water report and determine what you need.  I won't sell you the wrong equipment because that's all I have.  A licensed plumber can install the equipment I sell.  I recommend that you work consistently with one plumber and use that person for all your water system needs.  If there is ever a problem with a system that I sell you, then I'll work with that plumber and you to resolve it, taking advantage of the company warranties.  This is precisely the same approach that you would use to deal with a water heater or any other water feature or fixture in your home.

I provide phone support during installation.  I will make myself available to assist you and your plumber and I am most certainly interested and available to aid you should any equipment problems develop in the future.  The equipment I sell is intentionally straightforward and not inclined toward operational failure.

Perhaps the number one reason people choose to do business with me is because of my approach.  I sell excellent equipment to people who want healthy water for their family.  Sometimes people still feel that dealing with someone locally can provide them with better product support.  It has been my experience that your local provider will often sell you the wrong product for your needs and service will be by someone who knows nothing about the unit you bought.  To think that a local provider is a better choice is truly an illusion.  It might have been true at some time in the past, but not anymore.  If you find a local person who can provide an equal product and service, use him.

Call me and we'll review your water report and determine what you need.  I don't charge to talk about your water report and the equipment I would sell you. 

I do charge if you want to call up and use me to figure out what you need so you can buy it somewhere else.  That's only fair.  I provide a one time water quality consultation by phone for $150. You may find this extremely useful either when you have received your water quality report or when you are reviewing equipment proposals.  You may ask me questions about your water and if I can help you or direct you to an answer I will.  Use this service to ask me about your water quality results or to check with a neutral party before buying equipment. 

If you purchase your whole house equipment from me I will deduct this fee from your purchase price.  On the other hand, if I can put you into a less expensive system, I will.  I give you the options.  You may purchase a consultation here:

Purchase the consultation and then call or email me to set up an appointment.

I am also available to solve your water problems or put systems together for you on a consulting basis if that is appropriate.  This might be appropriate in the case of problematic water supplies or commercial applications.  My fee is $150 per hour.  Call if you'd like to discuss this.  I provide third party advice and can save you a tremendous amount of money.
